Scott McDonough founded McDonough Structures in 1993. Before that he worked building stadiums all over the United States and the Caribbean. Over the past 14 years Scott has developed McDonough Structures into one of the leading construction and remodeling companies in Iowa City. He is responsible for all construction planning and management, energy efficiency, and building science related details. Scott is a graduate of the University of Iowa.
Lisa is the bookkeeper and financial manager for McDonough Structures. She is also the owner and operator of Lisa Bo Bisa Jewelry and is represented by Dulcinea in downtown Iowa City. Before working for McDonough Structures, Lisa was a grade school teacher at Lincoln Elementary School in Iowa City. Lisa is a graduate of the University of Iowa.
Olga Badovinac received her Bachelor of Architectural Engineering degree from the University of Belgrade School of Architecture in 1996. She worked at The Institute for Protection of Cultural Monuments of Serbia from 1996 to 1999 as a member of the team responsible for reconstruction and preservation of monuments of national importance. She also took part in several residential building and interior design projects in Serbia. After moving to United States she become stay at home mom before she joined the crew in 2006.
John is in charge project development and management and is also in charge of cabinetry and finish carpentry related projects. He worked as a cabinetmaker from 1990 to 1996 and has been building cabinets with McDonough Structures since 1999. Before joining McDonough Structures John spent 3 years teaching art in Turkey. He is an active artist and has exhibited his paintings, drawings, and prints nationally and internationally. Travis is a construction and remodeling project manager and has been with McDonough Structures since 2001. An extremely well rounded carpenter, Travis is skilled at all phases of heavy and fine construction including concrete work, framing, roofing, drywalling, finish carpentry and construction management. Travis worked for 4 years as a concrete finisher and specialist before joining McDonough Structures. As a project manager, Travis is largely responsible for getting jobs done on time and on budget. Travis is a graduate of the University of Iowa.
Perhaps the most well rounded carpenter at McDonough Structures, Damon is skilled at everything from heavy construction to fine furniture. After working for several years in a cabinet shop, Damon moved to Montana to build traditional style log homes. In 2002 he returned to the Iowa City area and began working with McDonough Structures. Initially Damon worked with cabinetry and trim carpentry before moving into construction and remodeling projects. Now as a construction project manager he is largely responsible for figuring out how to actually build everything. Damon is a graduate of Ellsworth and Kirkwood Community College.
Phil is a highly skilled trim carpenter and cabinetmaker and all round handy man. He worked as a trim carpenter in Arkansas on high end houses and was lead trim carpenter for Moore Construction in Iowa City before joining the crew in 2005. Phil is also retired from the United States Airforce where he served for 21 years.
Jason joined the crew in 2005 after moving to Iowa City from Pella. A highly educated carpenter, Jason joined the crew after completing an advanced construction program. Jason specializes in interior and exterior framing.
A native of Maquoketa, Ike joined the crew in 2005 after moving back to the Midwest from SanDiego. Currently he is busy parlaying his municipal construction and woodworking skills into a carpentry related career. In his spare time Ike enjoys drawing and painting. Ike is a graduate of the University of Iowa.
