McDonough Structures offers custom built cabinetry and finish carpentry in a wide range of styles and materials. The cabinets we create are one-of-a-kind, built to your tastes and specifications in our cabinet and woodworking shop in North Liberty, Iowa. Our designers, John Martinek and Olga Badovinac, will work with you to create plans and unify your cabinetry ideas with the surrounding space. Following the design build philosophy, the designer/architect, cabinetmaker, and installer are all "in-house". This integrated approach streamlines the process and helps minimize costs and problems.

When comparing apples to apples, our cabinets are far superior to factory made cabinets at only a moderately higher cost. This cost is more than made up for in quality, durability, function, and design flexibility. In addition to this, our cabinets will increase the value of your house and retain their value over time. Actual costs must be considered in terms of long vs short term and also in terms of sustainability. Eventually our cabinets will become refinishable antiques, whereas most ready-made cabinets will be disposed of after 12 to 20 years.

Cabinets, especially kitchen cabinets, are an integral part of any home. The quality of the cabinets in a given space can add to the quality of the experience within that space. Doors and drawers that close properly, good storage design, and beautiful durable natural woods can add to the experience of working in a kitchen.
